Jennifer Collin

Week # 15

Australian-based author Jennifer Collin writes ‘Chick Lit with Grit’ – she leaves the bedroom door open, and her characters aren’t shy of a cuss word or two. She also includes her leading man’s point of view in her stories. The final book in her Evans Trilogy, Bring Me Back has just been released.

To Survive on a Deserted Island:

  1. Sunscreen. I live on what is pretty much the largest deserted island on the planet – Australia. Believe me, sunscreen is the most important thing you’re gonna need.
  2. Tea-tree oil – also an Australian thing. It’s a natural antiseptic my hubby swears by. Good for bites and cuts and nasty stuff.
  3. A mattress. No way am I sleeping on the ground.
  4. A cabin. Nor am I sleeping outdoors.
  5. A bathroom. Ahem. Don’t think I need to explain that one …

In My Purse at All Times:

  1. Rubbish. Shopping dockets, random things my kids hand me. It all floats to the top, too.
  2. Random toys – also handed to me by my kids.
  3. Stray bits of food (packaged or not…yuck!) put in there to feed said kids, and sometimes forgotten about.
  4. Money, keys, phone. (This is my ‘leaving the house’ chant)
  5. Pens. Lots of pens. They all sink to the bottom, so I have to empty out all of the above when I need one, which is usually in front of someone.

In My Wardrobe:

  1. My black 50’s style frock with large white polka dots.
  2. My white, vintage, shirt-waist frock with small navy polka dots.
  3. My Leona Edmiston frocks – she’s an Australian designer and she makes the best, most-comfy work dresses.
  4. The frock I recently found in a little boutique in the tiny town of Clifden, Ireland. 5. The frock I bought for my friend’s wedding – the one I’m wearing in my author photo.

In My Library:

  1. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak – my absolute favourite book.
  2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – previously my absolute favourite book
  3. Bet Me by Jenny Crusie – my favourite Jenny Crusie, whom I credit for showing me just how good romantic comedy can be.
  4. The complete Harry Potter series
  5. My Mum’s vinyl collection – I don’t have anything to play them on, and they’re mostly country music (which isn’t my thing), but I cannot part with them.

In My Pantry:

  1. Chocolate.
  2. Wine – mostly Cabernet Sauvignon.
  3. Coffee.
  4. Snack food for grumbly children.
  5. Pasta – cause apart from the snack food, it’s all the grumbly children will eat.
